“Shine”

~ Collective Soul

“Eckhart is here recognizing a paradox that is inherent in human existence. The potentials and aspirations that work in the depth of a person require outward expression in order for them to fulfill themselves. The imagery of the psyche requires an outer object in which it can concretize itself and in which it can be lived. Without this outer embodiment it would remain an image and an unlived potentiality that did not have the flesh and bones of life. And yet, when the psyche moves to make its vision concrete, it inevitably constricts itself and reduces the divinity that lies dormant within it.”
