“New Attitude”

~ Patti LaBelle

“As an open system, a person is linked with her environment in a multitude of complex and interconnected ways. Each transformation to a higher level of organization and complexity creates more points of contact both within a person and between her and the environment. As an individual’s sense of self becomes more complexly organized, she has access to wider and deeper ranges of environments from which to draw energy and into which to dissipate wasted energy or entropy. There is a greater flow of energy through the system. She is more engaged in the world and more aware of her inner experiences; therefore, she is more open to perturbations that destabilize her self-system and trigger further growth. Transformation expands boundaries that constrain our behavior and our ways of defining ourselves as we break out of old restricting attitudes and qualities.”
