“Fallen Angel”

~ Robbie Robertson

“Looked at from the viewpoint of a Christian psychology, it was the restlessness of heart that Augustine speaks of, the generic human yearning to find (or be found by) Something utterly worthy of praise, something in which to ‘rest’ – not in the sense of taking one’s ease, but in the sense in which a building rests on its foundation. We are foundation seekers and show by our restlessness that we are at present floating unnaturally, detached from the Solidity and Depth to which we were created to be tied. The search for the Foundation cannot, in us, be separated from the search for the understanding of our life, and so it always takes, it seems to me, the form of a search for concepts in terms of which to make sense of ourselves and our world. That is, it’s always a philosophical or theological project.”
